Guidebook (Drupal Module)
Guidebook is a google maps powered module that offers aspiring climbing/buildering cartographers the ability to map their latest conquests. The module allows for two new node types "Guidebook" and "Route".
I'm uncertain whether this sort of functionality would be of much use to the Drupal community, so it remains a "private" module. You can see it in action @buildering.net.
If there's any sort of interest in it, I could clean it up (the theming needs a lot of work for one!) and release it as a general mapbook application.
Pretend Best Friends
I was excited to find out my pretend best friend plays dodgeball too. Of course, in our pretend life we both play, but it's always good when real life overlaps pretend life too. The easy thing to do at this point is to write me off as crazy, but I think you should read on a bit before coming to that conclusion.
Buildering Fun!
I've given ardarvin the first version of the buildering guidebook module. There's still some touch up features I'd like to add to polish it off, but it should serve our basic needs well. I'll post a link to it as soon as it actually goes up, and add it to the Random Code section for those interested in poking around.
Database Conversions & Dodgeball
I know Thunderstruck isn't technically an 80's song, but I'm still counting it.
I can happily say the database conversion is all done, and as such it feels fit to add yet another empathic, but likely empty promise to never again do it again.
In regards to inline images/media, I'm unhappy with the implementation I have, and it doesn't look like (on first glance) that I'll be able to create the module with the workflow I want.
Death, Taxes, and Storing Hierarchical Data in a Relational Database
A quick update to the Buildering.net situation. Basically, we're going to convert their install of Ikonboard (no link, because really, you shouldn't use it ever), to Drupal's kinda kludgy "Advanced" Forum module.
The benefit is a unified login system, which is good enough to outweigh the loss of "real" forum features. (Personally, I prefer forums that concentrate on the basics, too many buttons confuse me!).
The Tragedy of Inline Images
I've had some time now to focus more on Drupal, and it's definitely pretty impressive. The extensibility is excellent, and in looking over my latest bookshelf addition, Pro Drupal Development, I can see that I'll be inundated with random bits of "oh I can do that?" for quite awhile.
Of course this presents me specifically with another problem, that being, how to focus my time. I can't imagine freshly stepping into PHP right now. I remember first seeing it in action at around version 3, and building small little guestbooks, and other random widgets.
