I Give Up.
After years of toying around with my own code, it's time to refocus my energy. Mundanity (aka Dissonance), was a lot of fun. A small community of random people hung out here, unknowingly pawns in my coding exercises.
It's time for a change though, and for me to narrow down my focus. As such, I've chosen Drupal to aid in that.
I have to confess, I've been anti-drupal for awhile. My criticisms are most likely unwarranted, but when one is on the sys admin side of things, hearing from yet another user that the default PHP memory limits AREN'T HIGH ENOUGH to be able to install a vanilla build, doesn't really make you want to dig deeper.
That being said, I took a closer look at Drupal recently, and although a bit overwhelmed ("it's not OO?!"), I understand (I think) their philosophy behind their design decisions.
It's still all quite new to me, but the more I poke around the API the more I can see the thought process behind it all.
So while I find the idea of creating custom modules a bit daunting due to the usual charges of name space issues, I have a feeling my fears will subside the more I understand their API's and have a chance to poke around the code.
